Forest bathing – sounds like esoteric tree-hugging to you?

Sigrun, a trained druggist, approached the subject with similar skepticism before becoming a passionate hostess at the Kirchheimerhof.

“I’ve always liked being in the forest. Collecting herbs with Aunt Huberta. Picking blackberries and cranberries with Mom and eating half of them on the way home. Playing hide and seek...,” Sigrun recalls. She also remembers her training as a certified forest bathing guide. “I wanted to know what it is really all about. To acquire specialist knowledge. And develop my own style.” She continues, “On the first day of my training I came close to giving up. Sleet, fog, soaked clothes, shivering from the cold. The forest and me. But then things really took off.”

Now she likes inviting her guests to experience a few hours of mindfulness. To breathe in the forest, so to speak, to look at it with different eyes, listen to its sounds. To become fully immersed in the experience, creating something with the treasures of nature, taking the time to smell and listen to the forest. To enjoy bathing in the scents and shimmering light that envelop us. With time and serenity, our senses become more attuned to what’s around us. Green is not always green. There is much to learn. And even more to sense. And the more we appreciate the forest, the more consciously we bathe in the sensuality of its scents, shapes and tangible stimuli – and the more powerfully we let the forest in.

The Kirchheimerhof is surrounded by forests with a lot to discover. Sigrun knows the paths that take us there. Into the forest. And to our inner self.
